JUNIOR DEVELOPER

The role encompasses everything from adding new features to our existing back-office banking platform, re-design and rebuild of existing core system components, the creation of new tooling, integration with third-party systems and process improvement.

This means you will get exposure to all facets of our successful investment banking business (operating primarily in the UK, Europe and Asia) working from our super laid-back office on the sunny shores of Cape Town.

You will receive on-the-job training (induction), guidance & mentorship on financial concepts in global capital markets. The team is highly motivated and deliver technical solutions in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Requirements

  • The ability to think outside the box and present these ideas to less technical colleagues.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • 2+ years development experience, particularly with .NET(#), web technologies and relational databases, specifically MS SQL.
  • Working knowledge and experience of object-orientation principles.
  • Experience writing unit -and intergration-test.
  • Experience working with source-control systems (e.g. Git, Mercurial; SVN, etc.)

  • A recognized and relevant B.Com/B. Sc/B.Eng. university degree - preferably in Computer Science and/or Information Systems - is ideal.
  • Some exposure to basic financial principles through study or work experience would be a bonus, and ideally an interest in the asset management/investment industry.
  • Experience working in a structured team environment.
